Professional Profile

Research Interests:
• Water and land remote sensing, atmospheric correction of satellite data, bio-optical analyses, hyperspectral and multi-angle remote sensing (Lake Baikal, Siberia; German eutrophic lakes and inland salt marshes; Scottish fjords; post-mining successive land-scapes).
• Multi-scale working (laboratory analyses−field work−mesoscale raster data) on interdisciplinary level (geology, limnology, hydrology, geochemistry).
• Integration of spatial geodata in geoscience research questions
• Surface and ground water quality, catchment analyses.
• Bio-geochemical optical processes in aquatic environments.

Management:
• Written and oral communication skills: production of theses, reports, research articles and presentations at meetings.
• Experience in the planning of ground-truth surveys during airborne remote sensing campaigns.
• Experience in the planning of surface water quality surveys. Experience in the ground water management at construction sites.
• Assistance with the supervision of master’s theses. University lectures on remote sensing and GIS.

Technical:
• Extensive experience in optical remote sensing (Landsat, ASTER, CHRIS-PROBA, SeaWiFS, MODIS, Hymap, CASI, ATM) and optical spectrometry (GER and ASD field spectrometer, Moldaenke field fluoroprobe).
• Extensive experience in geological, hydrogeological and limnological fieldwork and GPS surveys in a variety of terrains and environments (Germany, Argentina, Chile, Siberia, Kyrgyzstan).
• Experience in spectroradiometrical (e.g. LAMBDA spectroradiometer), geochemical and sedimentological laboratory methods.
• Experience in ship-borne data collection (3 research cruises of several weeks on Russian vessels at Lake Baikal, Siberia).
• Evaluation of Geodata and technical GIS requirements.
• Computing experience: use and modification of satellite image analyses and simulation software packages (ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, SeaDAS, BEAM, Model SENSAT), GIS software packages with associated GIS data bases and statistical tools (ArcMap, ArcView, ArcInfo) on various computer systems.

General:
Geoscientist with extensive multi-disciplinary experience (geoinformatics, geoprocesses, environmental sector) at a cross-cultural level.
Flexibility, as demonstrated by the breadth of commercial and academic experience.
